ELGi oil-lubricated reciprocating (piston) compressors are positive-displacement machines in which crankshaft-driven pistons compress air. The LD Series is a two-stage direct-drive line — the 'Direct Drive Advantage' means the motor directly drives the compressor element, reducing part count, increasing efficiency, cutting power loss, and delivering low life-cycle cost. ELGi also offers single- and two-stage industrial oil-lubricated piston compressors from 1 to 40 HP. Construction is complete cast iron (rigid, low vibration), with double-supported industrial bearings and deep 360° cooling fins. Three-stage high-pressure versions serve applications such as PET blowing, engine starting, circuit breakers, and marine use.
